A little reassurance

New to golf?
Let’s make it
feel simple.

There is no such thing as a silly question.

Ask our Get into Golf team →
Do I need any previous golf experience?

Not at all. Get into Golf is designed for beginners. We start with the basics and help you build confidence step by step. You do not need to know the rules, have a handicap or have held a golf club before.

Do I need my own golf clubs?

No. Golf clubs and practice balls are provided during the programme sessions, so you do not need to buy equipment to get started. If you decide to continue playing afterwards, our team can advise you on suitable equipment.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing and trainers are absolutely fine for the introductory sessions. There is no need for specialist golf clothing. As you progress towards playing on the course, we will introduce you to the club’s dress guidelines.

What if I feel nervous about trying golf?

You will be in good company. Many people arrive feeling unsure, and the sessions are relaxed, supportive and social. There is no pressure to be good at golf. Come along, ask questions and enjoy learning alongside other beginners.

Is Get into Golf open to men and women?

Balcarrick welcomes enquiries from men and women of all ages and abilities, including complete beginners and people returning after a break. Contact our team to find out which upcoming sessions are suitable for you.

When is the next programme and how much does it cost?

Please contact our Get into Golf team for the next programme dates, session times, fees and availability. The team will explain what is included and how to reserve a place.

Do I have to become a member afterwards?

You can ask about the programme before making any decision about membership. If you enjoy it and want to keep playing, we will explain the next steps and current membership options so you can decide what suits you.

I have finished Get into Golf. What happens next?

Keep your momentum going. Speak to the club about continuing to play, working towards a Golf Ireland handicap, meeting members and exploring a pathway to full membership. The team will confirm the playing arrangements, eligibility and current terms that apply.

How do I get a golf handicap?

After learning the basics, ask the club how to begin the handicap process. We can explain the qualifying scores and other requirements you need to meet. You do not need a handicap to enquire about the introductory programme.
