Club Championship Takes Centre Stage at Balcarrick
The Balcarrick Golf Club Championship, one of the most prestigious events in the club calendar, gets underway this weekend as members compete over 54 holes for one of the club’s most coveted titles.
The opening two rounds will be played on Saturday, 29 August and Sunday, 30 August, with the Championship concluding on Sunday, 6 September, when the leading 20 qualifiers return for the final round.
Played from the Blue Tees, the Championship is a 54-hole stroke-play competition and provides a fitting test for those hoping to add their name to the club’s roll of champions.
Three Rounds to Decide the Champion
The opening weekend will see competitors complete the first 36 holes before the field is reduced to the leading 20 qualifiers for the final round.
On Sunday, 6 September, those qualifiers will take to the course in reverse leaderboard order, with the leading players teeing off last as the Championship reaches its conclusion.
A dedicated section of the timesheet has been reserved between 10.30am and 11.30am for the final round, and all qualifiers progressing to the final day will be required to play during this period.
Increased Prize Fund Retained
Following its introduction, the increased prize fund has been retained for this year’s Championship as the club continues to encourage strong participation in its flagship individual competition.
The overall winner will receive €250, with €150 for the Gross winner, €150 for second place and €100 for third.
Entry has been kept at just €10 for the complete 54-hole Championship, covering all three days.
